Smartivity is a global brand that sells Educational toys for kids (in the age group of 6-14 years)
based on the mechanical actions.
It works on the STEM Principle:
Smartivity Labs was founded in February 2015 by Tushar A Amin, and IIT-Delhi alumni Apoorv Gupta, Rajat Jain and Ashwini Kumar.
We got to hear Mr. Tushar as a SHECO Partner initiative by SHEROES.
Smartivity makes Educational Toys that help kids learn at a very early age.
STEM Educational Constructional Toys
Child – learn most lessons at school. School gives a
standardized approach to learning. So, to make the learning experience more
interesting, Tushar along with his 3 partners from IIT Delhi, started with this
concept.
He explained that as they moved out into industry, post
completion of their B Tech, they realized they were ill- equipped as Engineers.
They were missing the practical implementation. So, they realized that the
lacunae is in the educational system.
They felt that children like playing. So, they make
activities for smarter learning. Their products are supplied to around 35 countries
around the world. Lacunae we see in India, can also be seen around the world in the
Educational system. So, they use the 360 degree approach which gives children a
sense of wonder. They aim at giving an integrated approach to the children.
When we play and learn, we understand it till Deep.
They follow a dynamic approach. Scientific spirit increases
and not superstition. It arouses a feeling of curiosity in the children.
In Indian society, we have a tendency to outsource our work for
the idea which we have got. So, we need to get a pride and joy in MAKING new products.
Children learn the best through play.
STEAM
So, the SMARTIVITY team enables children to MAKE the toys. They
don’t make readymade toys.
In last 20 years, advancements have happened. More advancements
will happen in next 5 years and the world will change drastically. So, in this
ever changing world, this conceptual knowledge will enable the child to survive,
make money and will help in giving a positive contribution to society by studying
these subjects.
Pride in making – The child has to become a contributor and a maker and not just a consumer and spending money as a purchaser.
Every Smartivity product is designed in partnership with children selected through our STEMNinja program.
STEMNinjas – The Smartivity team works with a group of 50-55 children at
every level of development of their product. They are the children of the age
