Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ :

Mr. Pokhriyal said in his speech that India being a huge country has a large number of educational institutions, teachers and students.

Mr. Pokhriyal said that earlier we had Nalanda and Takshila as the ancient universities in India.

He gave us the following reference of the famous Shloka:

\

“Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah

Sarve santu niramayah

Sarve bhadrani pasyantu ma kascidduh khabhagbhaveta

Om santih santih santih”

Meaning:

May all sentient beings be at peace

May no one suffer from all illness

May all see what is auspicious, may no one suffer.

Om, peace, peace, peace.

He further said that every person on earth should be educated free from all problems. This is the moral of Indian Education.

He gave us an overview of the National Education Policy 2020 with the motto as “Education for all”. Its aim was that till 2020, many students dropped out due to circumstances and could not complete their education. So, to make sure that students don’t drop out, they had serious discussions. All the worlds’ scientists said that from 3-6 years of age, 85% of the child’s brain is developed. There was a committee under Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan (Former Chairman, ISRO) that committee also said so.

So, Anganwadi workers teach students through various cultural and other activities for overall development of children of around 3 years.

So, this emphasises to focus on adding vocational streams and education and also providing them internships (from 6th standard onwards).

Focusing on the “Atma Nirbhar Bharat”, MII (Make In India), Start-ups, Stand-ups, Skill India, he said that Education is received through books (we gain knowledge), along with that we need to gain practical knowledge as well from the schools. So, that we get skill as well as confidence. By the time, we pass out, we have the skills, which we can use in the regional circumstances of growth.

AI (Artificial Intelligence), India would be the first country to take this in school. AI in Hindi (Mother Tongue). We allow and respect all languages. So, Primary Education till 5th class to be provided in the regional languages.

UNESCO said that to get fast growth, Primary Education should be in the Mother Tongue. English will not be forced. Any state (one mother tongue + one other language you take). This is so because in all developed countries, 80-90% of the country, gives Education in their regional / mother tongue , will get that independence. We have national languages.

The Progress card – Evaluation must be 360-degree holistic evaluation. So, that a student can evaluate himself or by the teachers. Report Card will be replaced by Progress Card. Country’s 3.5 Crore students (boys/ girls) should be given proper education. In terms of the higher education, 2-3 councils were made for Admin, Finance, Books etc.

Further, he explained that if a particular case is taken to a Vice Chancellor and if a University has “800 - Colleges under it that provided Degrees.” So, is it possible to remember the name of the Principal. It is not possible.

So, according to the National Education Policy, University will not have more than 300 colleges. So, as a result we will have more number of Universities.

Self – dependency will be provided to Universities but their level should not go down.

He talked about the “PM eVidya” Yojana.

When students were locked down, when such a situation was there, what would be the mentality of the students then?

India is one nation with teachers, parents and more than 25 crore students.

He further talked about the following portals:

1.     Swayam

2.     Swayam Prabha -

3.     Epathshala

4.     Diksha

Mr. Pokhriyal explained that the students who don’t have smartphones, they can use Doordarshan as a medium. Through these portals, DTH channels were provided for 24 -hour service, provided and run by the National Technology Forum to fulfil the PM’s vision of Digital India.

Online classes being run during the lockdown by the Universities. In the current times of Corona virus spread all around we have only online as well as mainline, as the option to conduct the studies. In the rare and rural areas, the students are trying to take education.

127 world’s best educational institutions have been doing research. IITs have developed a testing kit at a least cost which is 100% result giving.

Made Drones, Yukti Portals have been made by their team, where all the good intitutions are doing their research. Recently, AICTE has started with the “Yukti 2.0” Portal, where every person can put his idea. Their aim is to take this portal to 6 Crore small businesses.

They had done a “Smart Hackathon” online where 4.5 lakh students were participants. It was a success as they got a lot of solutions about Businesses, Rural Ministry, Defence Ministry etc. all these departments.

Now, business and education, 50 % will be collaborated. NEET and JEE, many applications they have got over time.

Further, NEP is not a draft, the team has decided to implement it and for that they have made a path also, for both at the School and the University level. It is one of the most beautiful policies of the world made by the Indian Government.

Further, Dr. Lalit Singh, a renowned educationist and also the Managing Director of McGraw Hill Education, who moderated the session gave a vote of thanks to the speaker and summarized the talk by Mr. Pokhriyal and said that during the COVID times, the “Manodarpan portal”, “The SMART INDIA HACKATHON” , the “Yukti Portal”, and all such initiatives, have made a lot of difference all together. A lot of work has been sone in the Education sector. He further said that the NEP is based on values and bringing the Education in regional languages shall take the education further.

Prof. Rajendra Pratap Gupta:

The moderator gave us an introduction about Dr. Pratap who is a writer as well as a Policy maker with a lot of distinguished accolades with him. He does not talk about overview of things instead he goes on the grass root level and thinks.

In his book, Your Degree is not Enough – Education for GenNext, Dr. Gupta explains about going in small villages talking to Parents and students who have given ideas and have contributed to.

Dr. Gupta has an experience of working with WHO. He has done an in-depth research. So, the content in the books is also very useful.

Further, the moderator invited Dr. Gupta and requested him to invite Bhagvat Ji.

Dr. Gupta said that we had to connect Delhi Live because of the Corona scenario. So, online from many countries, 1000s of students are watching the current session.

He thanked Mr. Bhagavat and shared with us how he has been a constant inspiration in his life.

The speaker said that he has travelled to 30-40 countries and he has the culture all over.

He further said that Education is very dear to Bhagavat Ji. Everybody tells us that we have to study but nobody tells us how to study. IQ or EQ – what is necessary? How can we get it? The speaker said that Science along with Sports/Music, is it more productive? How will world be after 3 years?

What was the inspiration of the book? In the 2015 Vijayadashmi speech, it was emphasised that we should get an inward model. So, he returned to India on 6th March and wrote till 19-28th April, a concise book. The moral of the book is that we have youth of 29 years as average age. There is a demographic dividend. So, with respect to demographic opportunities, there is a gap of 25 years. So, they are doing the inauguration of the book, “ Your Degree is not Enough – Education for GenNext ”.

He further introduced Mohan Bhagvat Ji as the RSS Head as a person who is a Deep Thinker and gives a Big Deep Message in a very simple manner.

Dr. Mohan Bhagvat:

Dr. Bhagvat greeted the audience all the panelists and carried on with his discussion for the day. He said that if we have to do some social work, we need to keep some general social knowledge about the things.

He said that from past 4-5 years, he has been constantly meeting Dr. Gupta and the way they think, their directions meet. So, he came for the inauguration session on his request.

Dr. Bhagavat explained that if we want to make a line, we need to have a start point and an end point. We will have to move ahead and take steps in what direction, so that someday, we will reach to our destination.

With reference to COVID, he talked in economic terms that for India, it is a current topic.

India felt it during the 2nd world war, world needs to be one. In developed countries, the basis was science. They had their own views. He talked about 4 main principles amongst which were, “survival of the fittest” and “exploitation of the nature/rights”, further said that taking these and understanding them you need to understand the truth. You need to go into the roots of everything. You need to be rational; individualism and consumerism needs to be there.  World needs to be a global market. Everyone should leave their culture, religion and then come together. Then the report says that this is wrong and now everyone needs to make their own model.

Now, the world has 2 Models, “Person” and “Samaaj”. Either Person should be the core or Samaaj needs to be the core. There are endless ends and limited means. So, there is no satisfaction. Gradually, the Corona came so we got the third idea that we have traditional values. But things change with time.

Gupta Ji talks and gets results.

Talking about the book, “Tough Choices and Hard Decisions – New India post COVID”, the speaker said that world says that forget yourself and come on one way/one level as a global market or as a global family.

He focused about the “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” concept of Modi Ji, the speaker said that in India, during the Corona times, all country had to fight their own battles. India is not having progressed economy. Precautions were full but we don’t need to fear currently, we all need to be mentally good.

He further gave the example of Prahalad’s story, where after Hiranyakashyap, his son Prahlad was made the king. Once, Lord Indra was upset and he played a foul play but recongized him and it was not politically correct to say it directly. Prahlad agreed to give everything. Indra asked he wanted “Satva”. So, from Prahlaad’s body to Indra, Satva went à then Sheel went àthen Bal went à then Tej went à then Vaibhav/ Lakshmi went.

The speaker gave another example of a person named Narayan, he had a well documented idea.  In 80’s decade, he worked for 20 years on his idea of producing “Compost at home”. He took his research to Delhi from Yuvatmaal. It was put in dustbin. Then, during the time of Mr. Bhairo Singh Shekhawat (from Rajasthan), it was accepted and kept for 40 years. This happened just because of the wrong thinking that we as Indians are nothing. We don’t have the capability to innovate.

Talking about the Economics in India, he said that it is such that we think of actual prosperity and with that there is sustainable life. If we have full thinking, over it, things could improve.

Our Economic Policy, could not be made immediately after the Independence.

During the Corona, public supported, not just the Government. Today, we have innovators, who get license from America. The Biocon companies also have this problem. The administration should have the confidence on the Indian Products. We have resources. We make wine here and sell it out.

He focused on the Pillars of success:

We need to have “DHAIRYA” i.e. Patience, “Drishti” i.e. Vision, “Mati” i.e. Planning and “dAkshyam” i.e. (Implementation or Monitoring).

 Source: https://twitter.com/holysanskrit/status/650064649296199680?s=20

He further said that we need to make up our mind to give education to the current and future generations. In today’s scenario, we need to have practical solutions, this is what we need to do in current times in all sectors in India.

The session was concluded by Mr. Gupta with a vote of thanks to all the panelists and the 1000s of students who had joined in from around 23 countries on the special occasion of International Yuva Divas.
